As part of my Cerebrium concept: a permanent installation dedicated to better understand the human mind while raising mental health awareness.
One of the dining options found in the Cerebrium is Stress Eats, the perfect place to indulge in comfort food after a headache of a day. With a building that resembles our brain’s primary gustatory cortex, this cozy hideaway has every culinary guilty pleasure you can think of, from Bad Day Bacon Mac & Cheese to Pancake Panic Attacks. For those seeking a healthy choice, Brain Foods is the exact opposite of Stress Eats. With exotic health foods and organic fruit smoothies, your body (and brain) will thank you no matter where you go.
Starting with concept illustrations, I began sketching out the exterior design of this table-service restaurant – down to the exclamation point marquee which serves as a visual draw to those in need of comfort food. Next, I began work on an architectural model of the building, making adjustments and additions where necessary such as art deco-inspired signage for both orange soda and slices, appearing to look like smiling faces on second glance. Backlit icons would visually convey what food options are available, with the color scheme echoing a sleeker iteration of the classic diner. On the bottom left is a fully illustrated poster for the restaurant, giving the best insight into what to expect from this colorful comfort food joint!
