The air itself is filled with monsters. As part of the Dark Universe project team from September 2024 to February 2025, I had the honor of working with Universal Creative as a Creative Design Intern and Technical Coordinator.
Building upon the iconic legacy of the Universal Classic Monsters, this immersive world respectfully continues these stories with reverence into the present day featuring the experiments of Dr. Victoria Frankenstein. Below is a brief summary and selection of contributions made during my time in the village of Darkmoor.
Working on-site to complete a themed land, I assisted the project team in the completion of thematic elements found landwide. This included interior and exterior show set elements found within Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment, Curse of the Werewolf, Das Stakehaus, Pretorius’ Scientific Oddities, and more!
I had the opportunity to contribute to the prop sourcing and set decoration found at The Lion’s Head Inn, as seen in The Invisible Man (1933.) With every detail meticulously considered for a setting with such rich backstory, I provided assistance through the creation of graphic design and illustration work on an as-needed basis.
Preparing and completing final paint documentation for theme painted elements on-site/in vendor shops, I also scenically and digitally painted on-site, collecting final themed finish documentation on various theme park elements in the meantime.
As a Technical Coordinator, I was part of those responsible for the preparation of ride/show engineering correspondence critical to this project’s development including facility and construction, transmittals, daily reports, and tracking systems. Coordinating with Responsible Individuals to track and report status updates to Project Management, responsible for finding ways to improve the efficiency and accuracy of this project’s extensive documentation process.
